Glaze Pen... and watercolours... Oh My!

I had so much fun creating this but it took days to complete. There was a lot of drying time required for the layers of Glaze pens, watercolours, etc.

It was created on a Large Tangle Me This! Sketchbook - lavendar.

So here it is...

It's all in the details...

I love this piece. I really love the tiny details in it. It's hard to see in pics... but you can see most of them in these two pics.

This is made my LARGE Tangle Me This! Sketchbook.

Four Light Covers

I tangled the rest of the light covers. Even though I was using regular printer paper my Copic Multiliners worked so... I ended up using them.

Light cover

I recently moved to a new condo here in Chiangmai, Thailand and I wanted to art-up the lights. They are receding lights in the ceiling with these little 5"x5" (approx) covers.

I started with regular paper so the light would shine through. Then I tangled it using a really fine point pen. Afterwards I used some different mediums to colour it in but ended up preferring my Derwent Coloured Pencils for the job.

I'll be creating five more of these... each unique.

You can see the light cover over my drawing.

and here it is... lit up!

Zentangle Expat Group

Today we had our second meeting. Everything went great. There was a small issue with electricity in the kitchen so our meals were a tiny bit slower than expected but all-in-all everything was lovely as usual!

Here's the blog posting about our first meeting:

And here's our mosaic from this one:

And here's the tangles we learned:

I'm already planning our next meeting!

'till we tangle,

I tried pastels for the first time and fell in love with them! The largest section looks like a reptile's back. I simply love how that turned out. I love who I am as an artist. Best of all I was in my Krishna Self the entire time.

What's being in my Krisna Self mean? It means that I didn't worry about the outcome. I didn't worry about if I was going to mess it up. I could see how much I was loving what happening on the page in front of me but I didn't think "Oh shoot if I do this it might not work"

I just did it.

Art is not about being afraid. It's not about drawing in pencil first to be safe. It's not about taking a photocopy of your work and practicing what you want to do with it before actually doing it. It's about simply doing it. Having the courage to say, "This is my art and art is not about playing it safe, it's about having the courage to pick up that tool and playing with it."

So I picked up my pastels and played with them. I taught myself how to use them while I was doing this. And I'm very pleased with the outcome!

This is on the large-sized Tangle Me This! Sketchbook. You can find it in my Etsy shop.

Happy Birthaversary to me!

It was my birth day and anniversary yesterday... in Thailand but in Canada where many of my friends and family reside it's today.

Today here in Thailand it's Mother's Day!

So I decided to celebrate:

And then I chatted on the phone for a couple of hours with my son while he played his guitar... and I added to this piece:

Another tangle - DAZZLY

I started this and before I could finish it we started our move and immediately in the midst of our unpacking I got really sick... so I finally finished this today! *whew*
