Diva Challenge 273

I love this challenge! It's all about taking an old tile and redrawing it and making it different/better than before.

I decided to take my first EVER Zentangle Tile and remix it.

What I found gorgeously wonderful... is the difference between my work before I learned how to so "The Method of Zentangle" and after I learned and practiced it.

Love is Love - Orlando

I am participating in sending art to Orlando to be left anonymously within the city to assist people to heal from the attack there.

This is the piece I created for it:

Diva Challenge Week 272

Diva's weekly challenge was to use red.

I seldom use red as it's so bold and I seldom like the pieces I create using it. But... I stepped out of my comfort zone and created this piece and then used TomBow markers to colour it.

It was also one of my first times using these markers.

Which way is best?

One of the many things I love about Zentangle is that there is no up and no upside down. You just turn the piece and find the way you love it in that moment. And then... you can always switch it up later on to create a new piece!

So here's one I completed today. It took me a lot of time to get this one done... but I loved the process so I didn't mind at all.

Here's one view:

ZIA Watercolour

I drew this today... and wrote a poem to go with it and then sent it to Marcia (((hugs)))

Overflowing Love blossoms.
Age of innocence renewed within the vibration of love.
We bask in the glow.

This is a less shaded version

This one is shaded to make this piece more 3D

Diva Challenge #271

I couldn't resist doing Diva's challenge this week. I love love love the idea of creating a necklace - "Beads of Courage".

So I began with watercolours:

and then I tangled it. I chose this tangle because my 22 year old son loves building Inukshuks and... I love him! So... it was an easy choice.

LED Ceiling Lamp Cover

We wanted to replace the light in our apartment and honestly... the lights here are not all that interesting (that would fit in the space and cover the huge area of the previous light)... so we ended up getting a newer version of what was already there.

The big exception was... we chose LED because the 'orange' colour of the LED lights here in Thailand is way nicer than the fluorescent orange (and the only other alternative is a white blue that is horrid on the eyes.)

So... we brought it home and I started to tangle it.

I used a black identi-pen, the microperms 05,03 and 01 we got when I was at CZT training, a gold Pilot "super colour" extra fine pen (the kind you shake and then pump the tip to activate). Three colours of Sakura acrylic paint and a 6B graphite pencil.

I spent a few hours working on the tangles and then I painted and added my gold touches... and then I used graphite to add a bit of shading.

Here's a few pics of my process:

On the above layer I added orange first... then red... then yellow.

After I did another layer of orange I had my hubby hold it up so we could see the light through it.

This is the finished product. And below it's hung up on the ceiling.

And this is it lit up.

It's ah-mazing what you can do to personalize your place even when it isn't your own forever home.

Tangle on...

Before and After --- and a new tangle Skye

I had someone ask me to take before and after pics of my work. I do the after... all the time but I never do a before pic. So... I finally remembered.

Here's my before pic of my watercolour with Margaret Bremner's new tangle Skye drawn on.

And here's the completed tile.

I used watercolours (Koi), copic pen 0.3, white gel pen, and coloured pencils for shading.
