RAZ Random Act of Zentangle

Here is my first RAZ - random act of zentangle.

I'm leaving it in the drawer of our hotel here in Phuket.

This piece was inspired by my sarong. The colours... not the tangles.

I love how this one turned out. I used graphite for shading instead of coloured pencils.

Tangles... Tangle Me This! Sketchbook

I've been doing a lot of tangling in my Tangle Me This! Sketchbook lately. Here's some of the things I've drawn...

I get inspiration from all sorts of places... lately it's the floor.

Here in Thailand they have some pretty cool floors. They don't care if things "match" they just put them together anyway. I happen to LOVE that. So interesting to look at.

So I have been taking pics of the floors I love and today I did a tangle inspired by the floors and by the 'skin' on my computer.

Here's the three floors:

And here's my computer skin behind my completed tangle.

Did you know that Phuket is pronounced Poo-get. I didn't... not until I arrived and heard it over and over and over again.

We had a power outage today due to a storm, lightening and a transformer blowing up. So we had dark grey skies and no light... but that didn't stop me from tangling!

So much fun to tangle!

I had so much fun tangling this piece... I just love the way it turned out.

Can you feel my fun when you look at it? Does it feel open and free... and inspired?

Some recent pieces I've tangled

Here are some pieces I drew this week. I've been sick... and there's just a new level of yuck to being sick in the high 30's celcius with high humidity. But... I do live in paradise so I won't complain much.

Anyway... the first one I did while I was sick. I was dizzy and it was hard to focus... I messed up a lot on this one... but it ended up ok.

This one I did as a RAK - random act of Zentangle. I'll be leaving it somewhere for someone to find (probably the airport this week).

This one was inspired by a drawing Eni Oken did recently:

And this one is my latest piece. I had a lot of fun letting the simple tools do their thing without any added colour - just the green of my Tangle Me This! Sketchbook. (You can purchase one here.)

Diva Challenge Week 268

I spent the day relaxing (for the 5th day in a row - I am sick in the heat of Thailand... can't even begin to say how yucky that is LOL) and decided to do the Diva Challenge this week.

I seldom use black in my art. Seldom. I dislike how it looks streaky and it can be a pain to colour in... so I seldom (if ever) add black. That precisely why I decided to do Laura's challenge. To have myself do something I never do.

While I was drawing I decided to teach my Sissy how to colour in Gems - since she's never done it and she's here visiting for a month from Australia.

Here's me working on my tile:

Here's my tile:

And here she is creating hers:

(Her's is not doing the Diva Challenge - just learning how to do gems)

More Coloured Pencil fun

I've been working on teaching myself how to use coloured pencils. The first thing I did was read this CLICK HERE. It has so much info... just keep reading and you'll learn so much!

I have Faber-Castell Polychromos 60 coloured pencils - because of their blend-ability. I picked up a set of Derwent Artists 72 coloured pencils the other day and a few random Renaissance Artist Quality coloured pencils as well. What a difference between the other two pencils and the Renaissance. I didn't find the Renaissance blended nearly as well as the others. (I also couldn't seem to find a link for Renaissance on the net... sorry)

Here's a work-in-progress shot and then a completed image.

Just got this little bed side table. Pics of all my babies on it and my Soul-Mom.

Completed image. I call my gems Imani Treasures for my little niece who loves them.
