Beyond-the-Basics Zentangle Class

Oh my gosh... we had so much fun today!

Today I taught a Beyond-the-Basics class and we had such a great time. We created so many tangles and even did a little craft ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) on a tea light candle holder!

Here's our mosaics:

Hope you'll join me in a class before I move in June.

My latest Newsletter

Tangle Me This!

Hi Everyone,

We have some very exciting news!

Parz and I are moving to Thailand! Yes... moving there permanently.

So I'll only be teaching Zentangle® for a few more months.

So here's what I'd like from each of you.

If you haven't already - take a class with me. Whatever the obstacle is that is standing in the way of you attending a class and learning this wonderfully zen art form... talk to me about it. Let's remove that obstacle together!

If you have taken a class... come take another one! I have three classes in the next few weeks that are specifically for people who have already taken their Basics Class. If you sign up before Friday (Jan 29th) I'll have a special gift of 12 regular tiles (your choice of colour - white, black or renaissance) waiting for you when you arrive at class! (a $10 value)

If you've been wanting to host a class (or host again) then please contact me and let's set up another class. I really want to book up my classes and then just relax and teach until I *drum roll please* retire at the end of May.

Yup... that's what I'm doing. I'm retiring! No more cold winters. No more cooking, cleaning or laundry. I'll be walking to the street markets and buying my food already prepared. I'll take my laundry to one of the lovely ladies who makes their living doing people's laundry and I'll support her and her family. And as for cleaning... we don't make much of a mess so I'm not concerned!

We are not taking much of anything with us on our adventure. So most of our possessions are also up for sale. If you are looking for a great deal on some stuff (and can wait to pick it up until the summer) then talk to me about what I have left.

Bottom line here... I love to teach. I love teaching Zentangle. So if you can make it to a class so I can share my passion for Zentangle with you... I'd love it!

Here's a link to some of my work in my Tangle Me This! Sketchbook - if you are interested in purchasing one, please contact me for details.

So again... if you are wanting to host a class, please contact me and we can set up a date. Or if you are wanting to take a class with me but you don't want to come to Burnaby for it, let me know and I'll set up a class in a location closer for you.

At the moment, I have three upcoming classes.

If you are interested in any of these classes please let me know.
  • Saturday January 30th 1 - 4:30pm - Burnaby (SFU) - Beyond-the-Basics Zentangle ® Class
  • Saturday Feb 13th 1 - 4:30pm - Burnaby (SFU) - Beyond-the-Basics Zentangle ® Class
  • Saturday Feb. 27th 1 - 4:30pm - Burnaby (SFU) - Black Tile Zentangle ® Class
  • ***If you have less than four people Aleesha will happily come and teach the class (pricing varies). Please contact her for details.

Hopefully I'll see you soon!

Tangle Me This! Sketchbook

Good news... the hand stamping process of creating the limited edition Tangle Me This! Sketchbooks is back up and running!

We'll be making lots more - and different sizes - but those will be printed with a printer as the process of hand stamping is extremely time consuming (approx. 50 hours to create each book - fortunately my table holds 60 books so in the 50 hour span of time {broken up over weeks} we end up with 60 completed books). Each page of the Sketchbook takes an hour to dry after it's been stamped and a table of 60 books takes me approx 20 minutes to complete. I find I'm able to do a minimum of two stampings a day (as I have another business to run as well) but some days I can do 4 or 5 stampings... so it's very time consuming and takes up a lot of space in our condo.

But the end result is so worth it. I love that some pages are darker (stamping) and some are more subtle. When I'm drawing if I want the stamp to be darker I simply shade it in with graphite.

As many of you already know we are moving to Thailand later this year and I am blessed to have the ah-mazing Meredith Hutton on my team. She'll be taking over the shipping and handling of these Sketchbooks and taking over my Etsy shop (coming soon) once I've relocated. She'll also be doing the shipping and handling of another one of my up and coming projects!

Meredith is fairly new to Zentangle®. She discovered Zentangle in Jan. 2015 and received her certification with me in April 2015. Born and raised in beautiful North Vancouver, BC Canada, she lives there with her husband and two children.

Meredith, who has always been artistic and creative, found Zentangle while she was looking for something artistic to distract her from the severe chronic pain she has lived with daily since 2009. Zentangle has provided an amazing distraction from her pain. Meredith is in the process of self publishing a number of books all relating to Zentangle. A book of tangles and their tangleations, a colouring book, and a template book that you can tangle. She's a busy woman! I'm very blessed to have her assisting me. Please visit her blog.

If you'd like to purchase one of the limited edition hand stamped Sketchbooks please contact me and I'll give you a quote for shipping. The Sketchbooks are $39 CAD each and come in a variety of colours.

1-16-16 Basics Class

I taught a really nice group of people on Saturday... what a great class it was!

We did some mosaics (below) and they asked for some specific classes... so we are having a Beyond-the-Basics class - two of them actually - and a Black Tile class in the next few weeks! Come join us!

Basics Zentangle Class 1-9-16

Well I'm officially off vacation and back to work - if you can call what I do work!

Yesterday we did a class to celebrate the hostess' birth day. Every year she does something special with her friends and this year she decided to treat them all to a class!

Here are our mosaics:

It's too bad I didn't get any pics of the food she put out - it was such a yummy spread!

If you'd like to take a class with me, please email me!

Tonight's Tangle

I decided to try my TomBow markers with my Tangle Me This! Sketchbook. The markers were fine but when I used the blender it wasn't gentle on the paper and I had some pilling. I probably won't use them again (with this Sketchbook).

I do love how this turned out though!

And earlier today I tangled a couple of clay pots for my houseplants. The first one is in our treatment/healing room and the other one is in our bedroom.

tangle on,

New Tangle

I thought I'd have a bit of relaxing time today... and so I tangled in one of my Sketchbooks... I love how it turned out!

I love spending a little time to simply breathe and draw. It settles my brain!

Tangle on,
