Gel Pens - Sakura

I treated myself to some pens... I know you are shocked! LOL

I picked up the 74 pack from Amazon and they arrived yesterday - so I spent the day drawing and playing with them.

Margaret Bremner's teaching

When I was at CanTangle 2015 I started one of these and today I did another one. I'm not thrilled with it but I do love what Margaret creates. I'll try again... but with more of my style in it... and I'll see how it turns out.

Not Zentangle® but Zentangle® Inspired Art!

And then I added an aura around the tree and a bit of colour:

CanTangle 2015

Last weekend I was in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada at a seminar with a group of other CZTs (I think there was 55 of us in total). We learned all kinds of new skills and laughed, danced and shared stories together.

It was beyond amazing!

Here's a few pics from the weekend:

The Diva and I...

The Diva teaching...

This is the challenge Diva had us do. Using our non-dominant hand.
Molly teaching...

Did a new tangle with Molly...

And a guided meditation with Molly...
Cris Letourneau blew my mind with her class...

Then she signed some of the books I bought of hers...
We created books...

Margaret Bremner shared her style with us... and this is what I created.

We all tangled in one section. Mine is on this one... can you guess which one I did?

More gorgeous CZT work

and more gorgeous CZT work...

I made a lot of new friends!

This is a few examples of what I created.
It was a truly magical weekend. A huge shout out to Lisa Heron for setting it up.

Private Class - Beyond-the-Basics Class

This is a tile created by a student who took a private class with me. After I taught her all the new tangles - she went away and created her tile. I love the way she used her new tangles!

Basic Zentangle® Class 7-25-15

Today was another really great Basic Zentangle® Class. It was a really large class - in my condo - which I thought was going to be too tight but it turned out to be just fine.

There were four teenagers and five adults.

Everyone did great work. I love seeing them come in unsure of what they are about to learn and leave with so much confidence!

Here are the mosaics from today's class.

My helper

This is my new little helper... who is NOT a helper. She tries to eat my pencil wrap, chew on my paper and sit in the centre of my work... but she's so darned cute. LOL

And this is what she was attempting to help me create:

Private Beyond-the-Basics Class

Today I taught a private class to one of my students who has taken quite a few Basics Zentangle® Classes with me.

We sat on my deck, sipping on cold beverages and found our zen. It was lovely!

Basics Zentangle® Class 7-6-15

We drove out to Chilliwack for another Basics Zentangle® Class today and other than the heat... we had a blast!

We had two very talented young ladies in the class with us. Their work is on the larger Apprentice Tiles. One of them showed me her room. She is doing tangle patterns all over her wall!!! I can't wait to see it completed!

Here are the mosaics from today's class:

As I left the class three classes were booked for over the summer. One next week (here at the condo), another in a  few weeks in Chilliwack (date yet to be confirmed) and another (in Chilliwack) August 15th.

The August 15th class is Beyond-the-Basics - so we'll be doing all new - somewhat more advanced tangles! If you've taken a Basics Zentangle® Class with a CZT - then please join us!

Oh and the leather binders that I've order in... many of them are sold... so if you want one... please contact me so I can save you one!

Happy Canada Day!Shanti relaxing in the heat

It's Canada Day today and we spent the morning driving to the breeders to pick up our new kitten. We've been waiting over a month for her to wean and so we we've been counting down the days. It was great to go pick her up and really get to know her. (Our short one-hour visits with her entire litter in the room wasn't much of a 'get-to-know-her'.)

Of course... I had to tangle the kennel:

Prakriti is Shanti's sister (from another litter) so now we have two lovely Ragdoll kittens.

Prakriti sleeping in the heat.

Shanti relaxing in the heat.

Then I spent the afternoon tangling.

I did another one of my integration exercises. This time it was age 16.

Integration Exercise - Age 16
And then a little relaxing Zendala tile work - just for the zen of it.

AND.. as another added amazingly wonderful bonus... I entered a contest on a blog and won! Lee emailed me today and my new Zentangle Kit is on it's way! I'm so excited. It's nice to have a kit that's mine... all mine. (Although I might just give it to my hubby as a surprise... cause he doesn't have one yet.) Decisions, decisions...

Hope your day was as filled with joy.

Scratch Tile Zentangle Style!

I'm doing a process of integrating my childhood self through art and meditation.

This morning at 6:45 I woke up and immediately my six-year old self wanted to do a scratch tile. So... that's what we did together.

What's interesting is that she wanted to draw hearts but the adult part of me didn't. So she drew the patterns all around the edges and when I looked at the tile I realized she had left the centre shaped like a heart. So... I gave in and let her draw a heart in the centre.

Amazed me at how she got what she wanted even with the adult me interfering.
