Zentangle Beginners Class 5-30-15

Today I taught a Beginners Class. It was great. I've never taught someone with Down Syndrome before and he was such an eager student. We all had a great time. The hostess is quite the entertainer so we had really yummy snacks!

When you host a class - you don't need to do snacks. Normally the students are so busy drawing they don't have time for eating. But we all took a short break today to enjoy the spread she put out for us.

First... here's a few pics of me teaching. I didn't know that I am so animated when I talk but obviously I am. LOL

And here are the class mosaics from today!

If you want to take a class... please visit my website at for upcoming dates.

On the road...

When Parz and I were sitting in the airport in Arizona last week, a woman approached us. We were sitting and drawing in our "road kit sketchpads" and she was so excited to see someone drawing in the airport instead of sitting on an 'internet' device.

As she walked away I said, "Yup, no internet required!" and she laughed.

So I thought I would share with you the images that I've created when I'm not at home. These two sketchbooks are ones I take with me to the hairdresser, appointments, classes (that I'm attending), meetings - and I draw while I sit.

So here we go... Enjoy!

This first group is from my travel kit... I do a lot of drawing on airplanes so my hand isn't 'steady' when I'm working but I love the results regardless!

This is my little kit I take with me.

These next images are my sketchbook (better quality paper) that I use at home or in places where my hand is more stable while drawing.

Private Class Mosaic

I did a private class today. We have a lovely time out on my deck - such a gorgeous day and our view is breathtaking!

We got deep in to our zen and really enjoyed our time together.

Here's our class mosaic.

A Zentangle Day

I spent the day doing a bunch of Zentangle tiles.

Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Join me on my flying machine!

Renaissance ZIA

I've been working on this piece for a little while. It's finally done. It doesn't show all the highlights in the pic but it'll look great in my portfolio for students to see.

9" x 12"

If you are interested in taking a class to learn this technique, you have to take a Beginner Class first, and then you can take a Renaissance Class. I'd love to share this with you!

Beginner Class - 5-17-15

I taught a great group of beginners yesterday. By time the class was over two of them were signed up my next class. They were already addicted!

One of the moms was given the class as a surprise Mother's Day gift and her little one didn't want to leave so I invited her to stay and join the class. She did GREAT. She was so in her zen, we didn't hear a sound out of her unless she needed more paper. She used all of her tiles and so we moved her on to paper for the remainder of the class.

You can see her crescent moon and bales were awesome!

What I loved about this class was the amount of questions they asked. I love sharing information!

Here are the mosaics from the class. You certainly can't tell who's a gifted artist and who's never drawn before... when we meet in Zentangle we are all equal. (((hugs)))

You can click on the images to enlarge them.

Created a few Zentangles today. Wanted to work on some black tiles for my website so I could show potential students how much fun these can be. I sure had a great time creating these "negative" tiles.

Happy Mama Day!

I had a really really great day today. One of the BEST Mama Days EVER!

Had a picnic in the park with chinese food and then played a hilarious game of D&D while I drew. Then after the game my hubby and daughter pulled out their sketchbooks and drew with me! The two boys played some frisbee and then played on their phones.

It was bliss!!!

I can't show you the entire piece... as there's some "not yet published" new Zentangle patterns around the edges but trust me... it looks great.

Hope your day was filled with bliss,

New Website... Class Mosaics and a Cool new wrap on my car!

Wow... I have a LOT to share.

Let's begin with my new website. I hand-code - so I created a website for myself on Monday this week. There's a link to it here...

I also taught my first two classes. I did a Beginners Class and then tonight I taught a Beyond-the-Basics class -which is really just a Beginners Class with some new tangles taught. It's for any level of tangler who wants to learn some more tangles to add to their Zentangle tiles. To learn more about my upcoming classes please visit my website.

And finally... today our car finally got it's new funky 'wrap' on the back window. You can see out like there's nothing on the window - but from the outside it's a whole different story!!! Thanks to the wonderful people at Vehicle Graphics in Burnaby. We like to shop locally and they were our closest shop and WOW... what a great job they did.

I've been drawing...  having a beautiful meditative flow to my day...

Classes offered:

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Wendy Neilson. She's a very gifted artist in the Fort Langley area of the Lower Mainland (for those of you who are not local... it's near Vancouver BC). She is retiring from teaching Zentangle and has asked me to take over her business.

We've emailed several times and gotten together to create this "transferring the baton" and she's notified all of her students that I'll be teaching the classes now.

I have beginner classes (which everyone needs to take before going on to the advanced class unless you've taken it with another instructor) and many advanced classes.

We'll be working with black tiles with white pens - Renaissance* tiles which are brown like a paper bag colour and we use brown, black and white on those - and watercoloured tiles and we can use a whole world of colours on those ones. Round* tiles will also be an advanced class with new tangles taught. I'll also be offering scratch tiles which are really fun. You scratch off the black coating and underneath there is either gold, silver or a rainbow of colour! All of your supplies are provided for all of my classes.

*You do need to bring your black micron pen with you when you take the this class.

The cost of the classes is $60 (plus GST) per student.

You can host a class in your home. If you choose to do this then your 'job' is to gather together as many people (min. four including yourself) that you can fit at your kitchen or dining room table, collect the money from your friends and I'll do the rest. You won't be paying for your spot in the class as I'm renting your home for the event and in essence paying you $60 for the use of your space. Everyone goes home with a 'kit' to create more great art!

I also offer private Skype/Zoom classes and private in-person classes. Prices vary, contact me for details.

You can also buy a group of classes. You pre-pay for 6 classes - $300 (plus GST) - and save $60. You can use these classes with me at any time. There is no expiry date on them. They are not transferrable though so this is a gift you give yourself and get to use on you!!! Oh the bliss!

I will happily travel anywhere from Squamish to Hope to teach.

Each class is 3 hours in length.

If you would like to find out when the next class is please visit my website and if you'd like to be notified via email on when I have a new class etc. please sign up for my newsletter.

I accept email transfer to - Credit card payments - PayPal or Cash.

Contact me at or 604-716-1336 to set up a class today!
